New computer question
A recent direct lightning strike destroyed all my electronics.
For practical reasons I wanted a laptop in the observatory, but I no longer can find new ones with XP. I do know where there is one remaining unit, but it only has a 1.4GHz processor. Do you think it's possible that it could run the DMK properly? |

Re: New computer question
Hello
I am very sorry for the damage you encountered with your equipment. My computer is a 1.4GHz computer too and it works fine with the FireWire cameras. For USB a little bit more power is necessary. However, all drivers of our cameras work in Windows Vista and Windows 7 32/64 bit, thus there is no problem using a new laptop.

Re: New computer question
Thanks Stefan,
I've decided I don't want to add another OS into my network and not even another laptop. So, I'm having another built just like my main desk top. 3.2 GHz quad core with 7200 RPM HDD and operating with XP Pro. I really like that one and it can run my DMK at 60FPS with no problem at all. John |
