ic capture losing gain setting question

am i doing something wrong? i set up my shot (using dfk61buc02, btw),
setting things like gain and exposure, in this case gain 35, exposure 1/23.
i'm recording to an avi file, in triggered mode.

i toggle open and set up the recording control window, click the toolbar
button for triggered mode, then press the red record button in the recording
control window.

the odd thing, though, is that, as soon as i press the toolbar button to go
into triggered mode, my image gets much darker on the screen. if i go to
the gain toolbar and press either the up or down arrow to change gain by
just one point either way, the on-screen image goes back to what i originally
had it set up to look like.

am i doing something wrong? i could live with this if it didn't drop frames
when i toggle the gain to bring the image back to what i'd set up, but, at
higher frame rates, it does drop frames in performing this action to bring
the image back.

thanks for any instruction in this,
BabaG

Re: ic capture losing gain setting question

Hello,

this is a firmware problem of the 61 camera model. Please create a request in http://www.imagingcontrol.com/en_US/support/case/ thus I can send you a firmware update.

Re: ic capture losing gain setting question

this has become very frustrating. i'm a POTENTIAL buyer of the dfk61. i
have the camera for evaluation purposes. generally, i like it a lot, but have
found this issue with the gain setting.

after receiving the reply above, i talked to the rep here in the u.s. since i
don't yet actually own the camera. i wanted to find out procedurally how
to address this firmware upgrade issue. it would be different if i owned the
camera, but, since i don't, i thought i should refer this kind of thing to
those from whom i'd received it. i don't feel i should be burning firmware
into a camera i don't yet own without first getting approval. i was told
they'd check into it.

in the ensuing two weeks, i've been told that this is a known issue and the
firmware would be coming. i was then told it had to be written. i was then
told it was written for the 21 and 41 but not the 61 yet. i was then told
that it was half written and would hopefully be ready by the end of the day
friday - last friday. these delays appear to be coming from germany since,
i don't believe, the u.s. team has control over such issues and, to be fair,
they've been reasonably responsive to my inquiries.

the camera continues to sit untouched, as it has for the past two weeks.
while i like the camera, i have to wonder about the support mechanisms.
i'm told the request is being relayed to germany daily but no response
has come for close to a week. the last response was the one about having
the firmware by last friday.

when will i see firmware to fix this issue?

is this how we impress the potential buyers?

thanks,
BabaG

Re: ic capture losing gain setting question

Hello,

I fully agree with you. Even yesterday I got a new firmware for this camera for testing, but I ran out of time. Thus I can test this today. I have only limited schedules on the engineers, thus it can not be done faster.

Did you create a support case as suggested?

Re: ic capture losing gain setting question

thanks for the reply stefan. anxiously awaiting the update. with regard to the
support case, as i said before, i referred this to the owner of the camera and
assume all appropriate steps are being taken within the company. short
answer: no. at this time, it's not my place to be filing reports on someone
else's gear.

thanks again,
BabaG

Re: ic capture losing gain setting question

I am very sorry for the new delay, but I was ill for the last 4 days. Did you already send a support request by http://www.imagingcontrol.com/en_US/support/case/ ?

Re: ic capture losing gain setting question

thanks stefan.

as i said previously, and now for the third time, i did not put in a support
request because i do not own the camera:

support case, as i said before, i referred this to the owner of the camera and
assume all appropriate steps are being taken within the company. short
answer: no. at this time, it's not my place to be filing reports on someone

the imaging source still owns this camera.

tomorrow will be three weeks since i first posted. actually found this a
couple of days before that.

thanks,
BabaG
