Re: jpg stream to avi?

Hallo,

I think, you mix somthing up here.

The codecs dv, huffyuv, xvid compress the image data in the AVI file. They use their own compression algorithms. The "MJPEG Compressor" uses something like saved JPGs in the AVI file, even if this is different. The "Uncompressed" save the images uncompressed, that means completely unchanged in the AVI files, Like saving the images as BMP in an AVI file.

However, you enable the trigger and start AVI Capture. Then only image were saved to the AVI file, when a trigger pulse occurred. If no trigger pulse occurs, then nothing will be saved, because no images are provided.

Re: jpg stream to avi?

thanks stefan.

when i set up to capture to avi i see a drop-down list of codecs
and a couple of radio buttons, one of which is for uncompressed.
the first test i did was using the radio button for uncompressed.
that created an avi file that, when i examine it, shows me that
it is using bmp codec for its uncompressed stream.

since ic capture uses two formats for still capture, bmp and jpg,
i assume there is a link sending bmp images into the avi file when
the uncompressed radio button is selected.

how do i switch to sending a series of jpg images into an avi file?
mjpeg would also be acceptaple but i don't see it in the drop-down
list.

thanks again,
BabaG

Re: jpg stream to avi?

Hello,

There are no relations between saving images and saving AVI files. You can not compare this. Uncompressed is something like bitmap, but also a little bit different in AVI files.

Compressed is completely different, the compression depends on the used codecs.
