I have contacted the reseller here in Australia, who is referring this onto TIS of course but I'm wondering WHY this camera is developing these dead pixel at a fairly alarming rate. When I received it new, it already had one which I wasn't happy about, let alone 4 of them.

My old DBK21AU04.AS only has one & it's 4 years old..

Hello,

I admit that I wanted to not really register here. Ideally it would have been me, if everything would have worked. But I'm really desperate now on.

Following situation:

I have a DFK 31AF03 camera. The whole run then via firewire. Since both of my laptops have only one 4-pin connector, I have now bought a repeater. Now I have connected everything, but it comes to nothing. The Repater flashing like crazy, but I do not recognize the camera. Neither the one nor in the other laptop. In the first, is Vista and XP on it at the other. How do I now set at all if the camera receives power at all? I hear nothing. Unfortunately I have no other FireWire device. Is it perhaps in the 3m cable from the laptop Reapeter? Should I buy an Express Card? I do not want to spend so much money.

What can I do?

Please help me.
And a second question, with my white light setup, the focus in-travel is too short, how do add focus travel without tearing the scope up?

Hi all

I purchased this camera in late February to record the June 6 transit of Venus. Work and travel have prevented me from starting using it till last week.

I can't get this camera to work:

- the driver (2.2.11) wouldn't install on the laptop I plan to use for the event. It would hang at the end of install and eventually report a time-out. IC support had me uninstalling webcam drivers, etc, etc, all to no avail.

- the driver installed OK on my main home PC (once I got home - one week lost).

- the camera worked fine for a few minutes. I was able to change resolution, settings, etc and see live images.

- IC Capture started reporting failure to "deliver images" messages

- I tried reinstalling the driver on the laptop. It worked this time.

- I'm having the same problems on the laptop now. Neither computer will show live images, regardless of the resolution, unplugging, etc.

- Most of the time it shows the correct camera model, but no serial number.

- The "Device Properties" dialogue shows NO controls under the exposure tab. It did when the camera was displaying live video.

IC's support guy is blaming my computers, USB cables, etc. I don't think he's right. The symptoms look to me like a hardware problem, or a bad driver.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone can give. That June 6 deadline is looming fast.

Thanks!

Cheers,
Steve.

Hello
I am working on a project that it's aim is to display the stereo stream which source is a remote streaming server with two DFK 31BF03 Firewire cameras. We are using RTSP for communication.

For the first phase of the project,I have implemented the system that client can get an image pair and display it in stereo mode.On this system, for the server,I have written a C++ application with Imaging Source SDK.In the application,as a summary,I created two grabber objects at the same time , by taking bandwidth issues into account. That phase is implemented and in a working state.

In the second part, I am trying to improve the system that streaming server will stream real time video. For that purpose,I am using Graphedit to build the graph that gets the frames, encodes them and send them over RTP.
However,in graphedit, I cannot connect two camera filters at the same time. If one device is connected, graphedit does not allow to connect the second device to any filter.

Is there a way that I can change some parameters maybe in registry and use them both in application?

Attached image contains the graph that I am using.

Hello :-)

I recently purchased a DMK 41AU02 USB monochrome camera for Solar imaging through my Coronado telescope and planetary imaging.

After installing the supplied software and running up the camera, I found the 'Live View' mode (running at 15fps) was starting, stopping/ freezing, then moving again sporadically. Capturing an image wasn't good either, it took +8 minutes to take only 150 frames. I opted to try it at 7.5 fps where it ran no problems ('live View' worked flawlessly), however, I cannot adjust the shutter speed, gamma etc down far enough to stop the suns disc being over exposed - losing all surface detail.

Is there a way I can run my camera at 15fps?

My laptop is a AMD Athalon X2 Dual Core QL-67 2.2GHz, 4Gb RAM, running 32bit Windows 7. All USB ports are USB 2.0.

Any advice to help me fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

cheers
I must say that this DMK 31 AF03 camera is fantastic! I've had absolutely no problems with it at all. I currently use it for Solar / Lunar / Planetary imaging with my Lunt 60Ha Solar, and my Celestron C9.25 Telescopes. OK, enuff schmoozing. I want to try some deep space, long exposure imaging, but will need a few pointers on the IC capture settings.
Stefan,

I am starting a new thread because I think I'm not the only person with questions about this subject. In an earlier post you indicated that "BG" was/is the correct patter to use for DeBayering after capturing Y800/Y800. And, indeed, when turning Debayering "on" within the IS capture program, "BG" shows the correct and expected color.

However, in testing 4 different DeBayering programs after capturing the raw uncolored video, I need to select a different pattern to see correct color. This has me confused!

According to what I read the ICX204 CCD has a "GB" Bayer pattern, so why "BG" in IS Capture?

Here are the results of a test I ran today with both my DBK31AU03 and DBK21AU618:

Image 1 shows the capture software, and the Bayer pattern needed to show the correct colors.

Image 2 shows the Bayer pattern needed within AstroStakkert2 ("GBRG")

Image 3 shows the Bayer pattern needed within FireCaptureDebayer Tool: ("RG" for bilinear, "GB" for adaptive smooth)

Image 4 shows Registax 5 needing "GB" (Registax 6 is the same)

VirtualDub DeBayer filter plugin does not allow selection of the Bayer pattern but gives correct color on output.

I would really appreciate it if you could clear this up for me!

I think this demonstrates why you might further consider developing an IS tool to get the Debayering done properly.

Thanks,

Peter

I am working on an application where I want to just capture an image sequence as opposed to movie file, but still at 30fps frame rate. I would ideally like uncompressed images and have them named something like img_1, img_2, img_3, etc. I was just wondering if there was an easy way to do this?

I'd appreciate a few tips about capturing color properly with a DBK21AU618, a one shot color camera. I don't have these issues with Saturn, but Mars is very vexing. I'm using the Imaging Source software to capture, Y800, Debayering turned off....same as I do for Saturn, only getting very strange results.

The image on screen, pre capture, is completely red and featurless and looks blown out due to total red saturation. I pretty much have to reduce the red white balance slider to close to far left position to see any detail on the image, or have it look anything like what I kight expect Mars to look like through an eyepiece. In any case, I mess arond with the color controls, and gamma, gain, etc until I get an acceptable looking image on the screen (this, with Debayering "on"). Then I capture with Debayering off. The captured Debayered image is bright blue! Shouldn't it look like the screen image before turning Debayering off? Just prior to capture I alo check the histogram and it shows all three color channels putting out about equal values for RGB. That in itself seems odd because Mars is red, so wouldn't one expect the red channel to be stronger. I can increase red, but then the image on the screen is blown out and featurless. If I reduce gamma or gain I can start to see features but by that point the image is getting very dark and the captures lack enough intensity to process.

I'm capturing at 30fps (with a IR/UV filter) with my TEC140 at f35 and use the ROI set to around 240 x 240. When I Debayer after capture I am using AstroStakkert 2, or the Virtual Dub Debayering method, or FireCapture Debayering Tool....all give the same blue image. If I inspect the color channels in the resulting Debayered image using photoshop the red channel is very very reduced compared to the other two channels, but the blue channel looks blown out (that is way too intense). As I mentioned earlier the histogram in IS Cap shows about equal color intensity on all three channels with no clipping. For some reason I don't understand at all, the IS Software is showing a completely different image pre-capture.

Any tips much appreciated!

Hi,

I would like to use a DMK 41BU02.H camera with MatLab using the image acquisition toolbox. The camera seems to work corectly, I can take some picture and change several settings (such as the gain of the number of frame per trigger), but I don't really understand how to change the exposure time of the camera. In IC Capture the exposure time can be chosen between 1/10000s and 30s but in the MatLab toolbox under "exposure" I can only enter an interger number between -13 and 4... and I don't quite understand how the two are related...
I saw in an another thread on the forum that for a trouble with MatLab you suggested to install something called setup_tisimaq located in the "Extra" folder of the CD, the problem is that I don't have this file on my CD. If it can solve my problem where can I download it ? (I can't find it on your website)

Thanks for your response.

Best Regards

Baptiste

I have been using my DMK21AU04 (rechipped to 618 by Astronomiser) for solar imaging with a DS PST without problem until now. Last week when I went to use it all I could get was a blown out disc with no edge definition no matter what settings I tried or which capture program I used. Normal daytime use (taking Avi of tree branches) works OK although due to constant cloud cover I have not been able to try it on moon or planets. This as you can imagine is very frustrating so any thoughts/ideas on what you think might be causing this problem would be much appreciated. (the PST is working perfectly for visual use)
Thanks Derek
