I use Firei.exe, version 2.0.0.69 and I can get images from a SONY XCD-X700.
Here is my system setup:
on Windows 200:
IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers
Texas Instruments OCHI Compliant Ieee 1394 Controler
Driver Provider Micrososft
Driver Version : 5.0.2183.1
Imaging Devices
Unibrain fire-i driver/SONY XCD
Driver Provider Unibrain
Driver Version 2.0.0.386
The problem is that sometime if I start/stop the Firei.exe, it will pop up with
an eror mesage:80070001 ( Device not vailable)
I found that soemtimes the Firei.exe remains resident in memory ( via the task manager) . I am pretty sure one of the componets involved does not relese a
reference on the camera. I tried with pview but I don't see any "familiar" name.
If I get that error, it does not go away untill I restart the computer.
Again, I am simply usign the Firei.exe and not a software develop by myself.
I would like to need the fix - is any of the drivers being corrupted?
All my best,
Sanda
