We are currently considering the IC software for our machine-vision platform. We have experimented a little with WDM Streaming drivers on our own and met several problems. We would like to hear the forums comments on the following questions.

1. Is IC suitable for single frame aquisitions at a rate of eg. 2 Hz without loading down the CPU between the aquisitions? What can be said about the CPU-load generated by IC in general?
2. Can camera properties like exposuretime be set dynamically per frame?

Hi Arne,

IC Imaging Control is suitable for single frame aquisition. We have
tried a frame rate of 2 Hz, which means we snapped two images per
seconds into memory. The images have a resolution of 640*480 pixels.
The CPU load during the image capturing was below 25%. The CPU load was
less than 4% while no image was capture. The CPU used was a AMD 1,4 GHz.


IC Imaging Control is also able to set the exposure time of the camera,
provided that the camera and WDM driver support these properties. The exposure time
can be set while the videostream runs, therefore it can be set before an
image is captured into memory.

The trial version of IC Imaging Control contains a demo application (Visual Basic),
that can set the camera properties.
