View Full Version : Windows 8 "system thread exception" crash

I'm using a Skyris 132m camera with Windows 8 64-bit. I have installed IC Capture Version 2.3.394.1917 and usb camera driver version 2.7.9.1152.

In IC Capture, when I attempt to adjust the Sharpness setting, Windows 8 crashes with the error message "system thread exception not handled usbcam_279.sys".

I can run the same IC Capture and driver versions on a Windows 7 laptop with no issues, so this seems to be an issue with Windows 8. It is a repeatable error, happening every time I attempt to change the Sharpness setting. I can adjust all other supported settings with no problem.

How can I fix this issue? Thanks.

Hello

could you please provide a minidump from c:\Windows\minidump ?

You may need to create a support request at http://www.theimagingsource.com/en_US/company/contact/, if you can not attach the minidump to you post here.

Hi Stefan,

The minidump file is too large to attach here. I have sent a support request using the link you provided under the name Robin Clark. Thanks.

I want to thank the IC Support Engineers for their quick response and resolution of this issue. The crash was happening because the sharpness algorithm uses some SSE4_1 instructions in a path dedicated for CPUs that do not have SSE4_1 (such as my laptop with an AMD E1 Vision CPU). The IC Support Engineers provided me with an updated version of the USB Camera driver that fixes this issue.

Thank you!

Did you download the drivers mentioned above?
Also, which CPU is used in your computer?

thanks for your reply Stefan Geissler
i do installed that drivers but my computers still creates that error.

i actually researched about this error and found maybe this problem is generating because of bad hard disk as you can see (http://www.deskdecode.com/how-to-fix-system-thread-exception-not-handled-0x0000007e)

so, its my hardisk who's creating this problem or sometimg else????

Hello

I do not know, whether your hard disk can create this problem.

Which CPU do you use?
