Hi,

Some of TIS cameras has detectors with 12bit dynamic range according their specifications. It seems to be supported in the C library with the Y16 pixel format, although that is a monochrome format, but I think that it can be used to create a color image knowing the structure of the Bayer-filter. In linux it seems to be supported too with the V4L2_PIX_FMT_SBGGR16 format.

I would just like to have a confirmation about the fact that the full 12 bits can be read using the C library in windows as well as the V4L2 library in linux.

Thanks, Andras

Hello

Yes it can. The sink must be set to Y16 and the OverlayBitmap must be removed, otherwise you will have 8 bit only.

Hello
I`am using a imagingsource DFK 31BU03 camera in my DIY telecine for 8mm film. The dynamic range for this camera is 8bit.
I planning to buy a new camera DFK23UX174.
Can i with this camera get 12bit when the video signal "have gone through " IC capture.

Well yes. But does your video editing software support uncompressed RGB64 AVI files? This is the only way for saving 12/16 bit image data.
