I'm trying to get video stream from my DFK 23UV024 on Linux. It seems it's not UVC compatible. I got the following messages from my kernel (Linux 3.8, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS).

Could you please help me to get any images from the camera on Linux?

First of all, the DFK 23IV024 is UVC compliant. A firmware update is not necessary. <-- WRONG

You need a Firmware update. Please look at:

Please enter
ls /dev/video*
at the console.

If the camera is connected, then a new video node should be visible. If the camera does not work, then nothing is shown. Please let me know your results.

For fast testing a camera you may use the "guvcview" program.

I have noticed that after I switched camera mode with firmware-update to UVC I can't control External Trigger property anymore, am I right?
PS: In proprietary mode with Unicap driver (Arne Caspari) I still able to see and control this property.

The trigger would work with an UVC extension, but this does not exist at this point of time. We are working on this, so you may have a look into the git repository. We will provide the uvc extension in the git repository as soon as we have finished it.
