View Full Version : RIO in firmware?

I have a suggestion for improving cameras for planetary imaging.

Currently the cameras always provide full frame images via USB and ROI is implemented in the capture software. If ROI was implemented in the camera firmware it would be possible to increase the frame rate of the cameras as there would be less data per frame being transferred via the limited bandwidth of USB 2.0.

If the RIO settings were limited to starting on even rows & columns there would also be no issue with debayering RIO captures.

Hello

The CMOS cameras can do this, but the CCD cameras will not be faster, if we used an ROI, because they have a limited clock speed.
