Hello,

since I've experienced framedrops with USB 2.0 cameras due to data being dropped by the USB host controller, I'm looking for more stable alternatives.
From the support here I've heard that USB 3.0 cameras (or USB 2.0 on an USB 3.0) might be more reliable. Firewire on the other hand is designed specifically for real-time media applications. So the question now is: which of the two (firewire 800) or USB 3.0 is more reliable in terms of no-framedrops?

Thanks!
Florian

Florian,

the same issue exists for FireWire cameras, but the disturbed images look different.

However, yes, USB 3.0 and GigE are more reliable than USB 2.0 and FireWire.
