View Full Version : Autofocus not working

January 16, 2014, 14:21:17

We have received a batch of DFK72AUC02-F cameras and it appears there is a problem with AF.

In our application the AF button does nothing when clicked.

Using IC Capture the AF button in the GUI is greyed out.

Focus does work as I can drag the slider around and see changes.

Any ideas ? Could it be wrong firmware ?

please let me know the serial number of at least one camera.

These are some of them. They all have the same problem.

I just checked on my own with the very same firmware and the auto focus is working fine.
Please try the driver "v2.6.5.1014 Device Driver for The Imaging Source USB 3.0 Cameras [1.93 MB]"
The current drivers can be downloaded from http://www.theimagingsource.com/en_US/support/downloads/.
It works also for USB 2.0 cameras. Please also download the IC Capture version from this website and
try again.

P.S.: I wrote the very same to your colleague by email.

We have been using successfully for some time but with this new batch of cameras the AF feature is not enabled. We have now tested with the USB3 driver and it works Ok but if I revert back to the USB2 driver it does not work again.

I can include the USB3 driver in my installation set to work around this but it does look like something has changed in the camera that the USB2 drivers don't like. I suggest you try with a recent camera and see if you can reproduce this.

There seems to be an issue using our older cameras with the USB3 driver. Using IC Capture, I have noticed that although the push once AF works the focus slider always goes to the left end of its range regardless of where the lens is focussed.

I forwarded this to the engineers.

Which problems do you occur with the 2.6.5 driver? This driver is recommended for all of our USB cameras in Windows 8. However, I can reproduce the "0" value read out for focus slider in older cameras.
