View Full Version : Any constrains on binning?

January 9, 2014, 23:12:59
Hello, the binning property of our camera (DMK23GP031) doesn't always work. When selecting binning 2x or 4x from the device properties dialog box (same from IC Capture and Labview) it sometimes work but sometimes it doesn't. Maybe there are some constrains that we are not aware of. Are any limits on binning related to the video format, the image readout [fps], exposure, etc?

Thanks again and again.

Please do not use the binning factor from the dialog.

If you want to use binning, you should set it by passing a video format to the video format property

.VideoFormat = "RGB (640x480) [Binning 4x]"

However, if you insist of using the property, you must make sure, that the binned format fits into the unbinned resolution. That means

1280x960 binning 2x fits.
1280x960 binning 4x does not fit, because 1280 * 4 is bigger than 2592, which is the maximum width of the sensor.

If you want to set binning 1x, 2x and 4x, then the camera must run with a 640x480 or lower resolution.
