Hi,

My laptop has 4 usb ports, 2 on each side, It only work on one side of the laptop. I have tried to use the usb install driver from the website and from the cd, including the x64 installer. It recognized the driver but IC capture message the camera is not delivering an image.

my laptop is Windows 8 64bit usb 3.0

Thanks in advance,

Jose B

Jose,

maybe one side is USB 3.0 and the other one is USB 2.0 The camera works best on USB 2.0. On some USB 3.0 chips we encountered an issue.

However, you may try the v2.5.12.930 Device Driver for The Imaging Source USB 3.0 Cameras [1.87 MB] from http://www.theimagingsource.com/en_US/support/downloads/ This driver is also for USB 2.0 cameras.

Thanks Stefan,
The computer has (2) USB 2.0 and (2) USB 3.0, even after downloading and installing v2.5.12.930 Is still not working on the USB3.0 side.

Hello Jose,

is there a specific reason why you want to use the camera on the USB 3 ports?
Does the camera work on the USB 2 ports?

Sorry for the late response, but newer computers has now USB 3.0 ports and my imaging rig is complex and is limited where I hook every instrument. The only place to connect it was a USB 3.0 port at the moment.

First of all, the DMK 31AU03 works on USB 3.0 ports with limited frame rates only at this point of time.

We are aware of this issue and already started to find a solution for this.

Great, glad to hear that. Just for the sake of completeness - I have a similar problem with my DMK31AU03.AS on my new notebook. My new notebook (Lenovo ThinkPad T540p) only has USB3.0 ports. On Windows 8.1 I tried ICCapture and get frame rates between 4 and 15 fps (when selecting 15 fps). If I switch to 30 fps no images are received anymore.

I made a BIOS and a Chipset update, installed the "Processor Idle State Manager", tried the latest USB 2.0 (v2.4.14) and USB 3.0 (v2.6.5.1014) DMK31 drivers and disabled the power saving for USB in windows - but all that did not help.

Maybe another side information - on another thinkpad which still has an USB 2.0 port the camera works fine with (Windows 8 installed). If I plug the camera to an USB3.0 port of the same notebook it shows the same effect as described above. So I guess it is a problem with USB3.0.

It would be great if this issue could be resolved.

Best regards
Carsten

We are working on this issue, but this takes its time, since we do not know, what it happens on USB 3.0 at all.

Sorry for this.

Did you achieve a solution for this issue? I'm also having trouble with USB and a DMK31AU03.AS.

Notebook Dell Vostro 3750 with Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller, Win7 64bit DMK works fine @30fps attached to USB 2.0 as well as to USB 3.0 ports.

PC with Mainboard Intel DH87RL, Win7 64bit: DMK works only with 15fps, selecting 30fps shows the known error. Same problem on USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. The newest drivers and bios from the Intel website are installed, the processor idle state manager didn't help either.

I bought this PC especially for the observatory but can't use it for the DMK now, although it has USB 2.0 ports. You seem to have this USB issues for over a year now, no solution yet? Any ideas on how I could get the camera working with this PC at full framerate?

Thanks in advance,
Nils

Nils,

I am very sorry, but there is no good solution.

However, you are right regarding the Renesas Chipset. Using driver 2.1.28 by Renesas works indeed fine. Same with ASMedia and driver 1.16.2

Only the Intel USB 3.0 chip and also newer Intel USB 2.0 (they are the same as the USB 3.0 ones) have this issue.

Thank you Stefan.

I'm about to buy a USB 2.0 PCI Express Card like http://www.delock.de/produkte/F_320_USB-2-0_89287/merkmale.html, they say it has a "MosChip Chipsatz", do you think it could work with such a card? Do you know any other chipsets I should avoid?

Best regards, Nils
