View Full Version : Missing documentation for GigE config tool

while fighting with the GigE configuration for some cameras, I'm missing a documentation.
What behavior does the camera have, if we activate a static IP and also DHCP?

In our case we have lost the communication to the camera after config to static IP, and we found the camera again with another static IP after changing the subnet mask of the network card from to
Both - static IP and DHCP - were activated.

With the next camera, we disabled DHCP, and all was right.
Any explanation for this behavior?
Don't like to make more experiments, because I'm afraid to configure the camera to an unreachable state.

Hello Lutz,

the camera will be reachable at any time, if the Firewall is disabled.

If all checkmarks are set, then first is persistant IP used. If this fails, which we did not see, DHCP is used.

If you use more than one network boards, you must make sure, that the IP adresses differ in the positions, where the submask is 255.

Network 1

Network 2

Otherwise Windows can not differ between the networks.

The camera IPs should be 192.168.55.n and 192.168.56.n in respect to your network board IPs. You use persistant IP address in the camera. I would uncheck the DHCP in this situation.

Thank you, but it would be nice to have a document (HowTo, FAQ, trouble shooting) for us network nerds!
Best regards

Unfortunately, there is no document available. But I admit, network setup is a very complex issue, which is not as easy as FireWire and USB.
