View Full Version : 15x cameras

I am working on a project with 15 to 20 cameras.
Hopefully I want to aquire a shot from all of them from one PC every 500ms (global shutter).
I do not have 20 cameras at the moment to test.
What problems may occure?
Will the driver support them? Will a hardware support them?

I work with 640x480 monochrome with ROI 1/2 of the actual size.

I prefer GigE due to industrial application.

With CMOS USB I need active USB hubs but by connenting them to different USB hosts the bandwidth will be more than GigE. Am I right?

Will a dual GigE ******board work faster?

Any experience on that is appreciated.

Thank you.

Dear Achilleas,

In any case you should take care of bandwidth. You can reduce the amount of bandwidth, be reducing the frame rate.
GigE has higher bandwidth than USB, therefore, I would use GigE cameras. These cameras can be provided with power by an external power supply, so you have not to bother about powering them.

We run until now 7 cameras at 1600x1200@10 fps using three NICs in one PC. The CPU workload is below 70%, so I suppose, this should not be a problem in your environment.
