Hi,
I would like to understand how auto-focus cameras work? Is it changing the distance between the lens and the sensor or it gives a control output for the lens? Can we use a standard lens with them or we need a special lens? If a special lens is required I would like to get the specifications of the same.

Finally, what is the logic used to decide whether the image is in focus or not? Are there any parameters that can be controlled to decide "focus".

Regards,
Niranjan

Hi,

the auto focus runs on demand only. That means, there is no continuous auto focus.

You need the mini lenses to be screwed into the thread of the auto focus mechanic. www.theimagingsource.com/en_US/products/optics/lenses/

The logic is checking the sharpness of an image, change the focus value and check the sharpness again. If the new is less sharp than the one before, use the previously used focus value again.
