View Full Version : Lines on Image

November 24, 2011, 12:19:36
Hi All
When I take .avis of, say, Jupiter, using my DBK21AU04.AS camera, I am getting a series of lines - this I think is the Bayer.
What video codec should I be using, to eliminate or minimise this.
I am processing the images using Registax and with only a small amount of wavelet action these lines appear. See the attached file.
Your help and advice would be appreciated.

From my point of view, and this is a first guess only, the stripes do no come from debayering. I suppose, the stripes must be nearer, if they come from debayering. I did not check the distance of the stripes right now, therefore, I can not say more at this point of time.

Which video format and codec settings did you use? Both "Y800"?

Hi Stefan
No - Video Format was: Y800 and Codec: DV Video Encoder

From your question, I assume that I am using the incorrect settings!!

The DV Video Encoder changes 1) the resolution, 2.) compresses the image data.

Use Y800 as codec.

I'll change to Y800 for the codec and let you know how I get on

I think the lines are related to a debayering process. My own recent tests seem to confirm this. I have also had similar issues to yours debayering in Registax. However if I debayer first using Virtual Dub I do not get the lines.
