Identify camera via serial number

We're trying to identify TheImagingSource cameras using the serial number from a "DirectShow program". Is it necessary to do this via the Windows registry or is it possible to do this "a better way"? The reason for asking is that the registry may differ (I don't know why - but this may be caused by different Windows versions), but this functionality (finding serial number) is implemented in ImagingControl.

if you do not use IC Imaging Control for doing this, then you must use the KsPropertySet of the driver. Please create a support case at http://www.imagingcontrol.com/support/case/ , because this is DirectShow support, not IC Imaging Control support.
