Hi I have a dmk 21AFS FireWire camera and would like to connect it to a new MacBook pro that has a FireWire 800 port.

I can't find the adapts needed to connect to this port. I have the 4 pin FireWire cable that has a power chord coming off it and would like to use this cable as I power the camera externally.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hello Mike,
You can get 6 pin to 9 pin adapters or cables with a firewire 400 plug on one and and a firewire 800 plug on the other. Unfortunately there aren't 4 pin to 9 pin adapters available as far as I am aware. You could solve this though by adding a powered hub between the Macbook and the camera. This for example: http://scorpionvision.co.uk/catalogue-index/firewire-accessories/firewire-repeaters/FireRepeater-400-3-port-repeater-hub

Then connect a 4 pin to 6 pin cable between camera and hub and 6 pin to 9 pin cable between hub and Macbook.
