How to change device name of USB cameras

How can i rename the device name (i.e. "DFx 22AUC03(31010401)" ) to a friendly one i.e. "Camera right".
It work for the firewire cameras by modifying the name in the registry. How can i do this with the USB cameras (and where)?

Hello Blumenkistl,

you can not rename the cameras. Please identify them using the serial number.

Manipulating the ragistry is no good idea, because you can not predict, whether this will work after the next Windows updates.

If you work with IC Imaging Control, you can use SaveDeviceStateToFile and LoadDeviceStateFromFile functions for saving and opening specified cameras. These functions use the camera serialnumber for identification.
