DMK21AF04 keeps disappearing

Starts working in ICCapture then gives this error:

I then have to remove the plugs from the camera and then it show again only to disppear some time later.

Same thing in PHD Guiding or MetaGuide.

Hardware is older IBM T42 Laptop with Firewire PCMCIA Cardbus adapter.

Same camera and adapter card work fine in Lenovo T61.

Both laptops run WinXP, mostly up to date on service packs etc.

Removing periphals such as 802.11ABG wireless PCMCIA adapter and all other USB connections for shutter control and camera data cables and ASCOM serial driver cables seems to help.

Any advice on how to troubleshoot further? Not much shows in the Windows Event viewer!

Hi Mike,

On the T42 should not be any problem. Also, if the FireWire camera is used, then there usually is not side effect with USB hardware.

If the problem occurs on both computers after some time, I would like to point to a cold solding point. This can be in the FireWire cable or in the camera. Thus I would like you to exchange the FireWire cable. If this does not help, we may need to repair the camera.

Also please make sure, the contacts between your power supply and the FireWire card are good.
