1394 video converter - horizontal lines

Hello

Last night I used the 1394 video converter, IC Capture and my Mallincam video camera to capture some images of the moon. I noticed that there were horizontal lines running across the video (see attached image). I rotated the camera to confirm they weren't being generated by the camera.

What's causing these lines and how can I prevent them occurring?

The horizontal lines might be scaling artefacts. They may occur, if the camera is a PAL camera. If this camera is a PAL camera, please you an 768x576 video format instead of 640x480.

It is PAL and I was in 640x480 mode. I switched to 768x576 and the lines went away!

Is 768x576 the native (or at least best) format for PAL (I always get confused between lines and pixels)?
