Looping video instead of live preview (on an HP IQ770)

Hello,

I've been testing the Montivision libraries against a set of capture and tuner cards that I have and came across a setup that I'd like to ask about.

The HP IQ770 - a 19" all in one touchscreen computer has both a USB camera, and a multifunction capture card from Hauppauge with support for ATSC, NTSC, SVideo and FM. I don't know the model, but Montivision software reports the capture source as a Hauppauge WinTV device. This is a Vista computer.

Using the Montivision capture configuration application, I can access the USB camera capture device without a problem. The Cable tuner seems to capture about 2 seconds of video then just loops over it repeatedly rather than a continuous live preview.

Filter graphs built with the Montivision workbench do the same behavior, as does the testbed application I've written for these testing purposes.

Has anyone seen the behavior of a looping couple seconds of video instead of a live preview?

Further research shows the tuner card is a Hauppauge combo PVR 1800.

I added a Smart Tee filter to capture the video to a file and see what the video looked like there, tested the filtergraph and the looping initial second was gone, replaced by nicely captured video preview on the preview pin. Odd, of course I'm a Directshow noob, so maybe this isn't surprising, but it was to me.
