Hi.
I have a problem, I deeply appreciate if you can help me somehow.
I'm working in some kind of image processing system,
but in my requirements I need to turn on/off the camera in order
to extend its lifetime and save some energy.
At the moment, I´m testing my algorithms with a DFW-SX900 Sony 1394 camera
with a 6 pins cable, and I need to work in Windows OS.
So, my question is: Is There any way to turn on/off safely a 1394 camera
with hw/sw without unplugging the cable?
I accept any suggestions

Thank you.

Hi,

In our experience is no hardware solution for turning off the camera through FireWire. As soon as the camera is connected to the computer, it starts. It does not deliver images or does much. It start to work "harder" only when the live video is started.

At least it may is better to let the camera run instead of starting and stopping (unpower) it all the time.

I have two firewire cameras from two manufacturers. When I connect them, even if I don't start them they get warm. Is it normal?
