A question on Gain. e-/ADU versus dB

Hello CCD camera gurus.

Is there a relationship between gain expressed as electons/ADU and the gain in dB. Eg. If I look at the specs for the Canon 300D it has a gain of 2.41 e-/ADU @ ISO400, but the DMK21AF04.AS has a gain of 0-36 dB.

Sorry there is no known relationship. Generally, there is no serious way to compare an SLR (especially if it is equipped with a CMOS sensor) and an industrial camera.

What about comparing gain in dB for a DMK camera with the gain in e/ADU with a dedicated Astron CCD like an SBIG ST-7XME?

Unfortunately the same anwser. There is simply no "global standard" and for us, as electrical engineer an amplifier simply is parametrized by a gain in db.
