Hello,

I'm considering to buy a DFK 31BF03.
I see it can run at 30fps, but only in BY8 colorspace.
But BY8 is RAW, right? So it must be debayered to see colors.

If I use other software then IC Capture, will the debayering then be done automatic by DirektX?

I am asking this because I use stop motion software.
This software captures stills and saves them to an AVI file.
Unfortunatly, IC Capture can not do this :(
Maybe it is a good idea to add this function in new releases :)
(I am sure the Astro guys would love this function :p )

But maybe I am wrong: what would happen in IC Capture if trigger mode is enabled, and AVI recording is running?
With a camera with trigger, would IC Capture then record the triggered frames to AVI?

Fred.

Fred

We have created a DirectShow filter, that will be implemented by DirectShow automatically, if the BY8 video format is selected. This is not only in IC Capture. This will happen in all DirectShow applications automatically.

If the external trigger is used, then you can create your stop motion AVI files with IC Capture.

Hello Stefan,

Thank you for the answer.
A few last questions: how fast could I trigger without dropping frames?
10-15 frames/sec would be fine. I have a 3ghz computer.

And will I have to use the 'debayer' option in IC Capture or is this done by DirectShow before the frame arrives in IC Capture?

And if BY8 is a RAW format, then why do you offer 'RAW' cameras, too?
What is the difference?

Thank you again in advance,

Fred.

You can trigger with a frequency near by the frame rate.

No. You do not have to take care about this. By selecting "BY8" video format, you will automatically receive colored images.

The Y800 is the RAW format without automatic conversion. All DFK AF and BF (like DFK 41AF02) offer these formats.
There was only a difference to the DFK 21F04 / DBK 21F04, based on the chip design.
