View Full Version : Registax isn't happy

March 11, 2007, 10:10:03

Just took delivery of my new DMK21AF04.AS and I'm already having problems:mad:

Let's start with the most obvious.

Why do I keep getting this error message in Registax3:

Failed to start AVI decompression.

I'm using the Y800 uncompressed codec, so why would the AVI require decompression?

I get this same message whether the AVI is 150 or 1500 frames

Very confused.

;) The solution is very simple.... download and install the NEW Registax4. It now handle Y800 format. Consider that up to day this is the only astro software that natively handle Y800 format. Have a great processing day. :D

Ahhhh. So Registax3 will not process the Y800 format?

That's a shame. I much prefer it to V4. Just a personal thing.

Is there a codec (preferably uncompressed) I can use for capture in IC which Registax3 will be happy with?

Many thanks:)

Yes, Registax3 and Iris are not able to handle Y800. I usually use Iris for processing my avi BUT before the processing I convert the avi from Y800 to RGB (888) using VirtualDub (freeware). It's annoying but it is the way I found in order to save uncompressed Y800 format.
Clear skies.

I occassionally get the same message with Reg 4 as well, but only when the frame size is 720x480. How it got to that size I have no idea. @640x480 its normally not a problem.

What is it you don't like about Reg 4 Matt?

The 24bit rgb one works fine.
