View Full Version : Saving Images with more than 8 bit?

I have a Sony XCD-X710 camera which should be capable of 10 bit greyscale.
I found that Imaging Control3.0 is capable of up to 16 bit, but I did not find out how to save images with more than 8 bit.

How can I save images/avis without dataloss meaning full 10 bit? (I'm using VB6)

It is not intended to save images with 10/12 bit in AVI or image files. Therefore you would have to write your own image saving function for 16 bit gray scale images. At least I do not know an application that can read these formats.

there are plenty of grafik formats for 16 bit greyscale images:
those can be read by various programs.
Is there any posibility of copying the 10 bit from the camera (YGB1) to an array to save it in for example a text file?

Yes, it is. You have direct access to the imagebuffer. Please refer to http://www.imagingcontrol.com/ic/docs/html/activex/ImageProcessing.htm for a simple sample of image processing in Visual Basic 6.
