can only use RGB8 (320*240) mode with DFG/1394-1e

this sounds pretty basic:

it's currently impossible for me to use another mode than RGB8 (320*240) with DFG/1394-1e converter.

if i'm trying to do so, i get the same error (for example in IC Capture): "error live mode could not be started, please make sure no other program uses the device and that there is enough bandwidth on your firewire bus available".

the Firewire port I'm using is the one on the Asus P5AD2-E motherboard. is a firewire 400 interface enough to achieve 640*480 24 Bit resolution?

any idea?

Hello Benoit,

The Asus P5AD2-E has a 1394b instead of a 1394a FireWire connection. Windows XP has trouble with it, but there is a hotfix available. The hotfix can be downloaded at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885222

The same issue is also known for newer Gigabyte motherboards.
