merge frames

Hi -

I am considering using the merge filter to combine two video files. The idea is that we will encode a 720x480 video, and the corresponding 720x6 VBI as separate files, then merge them together on output. The VBI would be encoded uncompressed so that CC and VITC is unaltered.

Anyway, my question is will the merge filter honor the timestamps of the samples such that the two files will play back in sync?

Hi Sam,

MV Merge Frames doesn't take time stamps into account. You may try to place MV Camera Syncronisation before MV Merge Frames.

Hi again -

It appears that the merge filter requires both frames to be the same size. Is there a way to merge a 720x16 (the VBI) with a 720x480 (video) frame?

you're right, i absolutely missed that point the first time. I guess we'd need to adapt the filter in order to meet your needs. I will find out what it would take to do that.
