I'm figuring out what is a good codec to use with the IC control, to record AVI's. I want (very) good quality in combination with good performance for a full-screen live display...

Does somebody has some ideas?

The very best possible is Huffyuv. (freeware)
This is a 100% losless codec, but gives huge files.
And you need a fast computer to play them smooth.

DV codec is a good option, too.(Panasonic DV codec is free)
Not 100% losless, but plays fine, even on older-slow- computers.

DivX can give very good results, too. For a first generation file.
But very lossy. If you have to edit your files and save it again with divX,
you gonna loose quality...

Compression rate of DivX is very high: it gives you the smallest files.
Basic DivX codec is free, too. You need a fast computer to play DivX files.
DivX is using mpeg4, like Windows WMV.

Please send a request to support@imagingcontrol.com, thus i can send you a sample application. The histogram is very CPU intensive, so i am not sure, whether you will be able to use. But it think it is worth a test.
