View Full Version : Y8 codec?

I have a monochrome dmk camera. I want to get a lossless codec for it. However, I couldn't find any Y8/Y800 codec on the Internet. I don't want to use codecs designed for color formats, which will waste diskspace and slow down the throughput. Do you know where a 8bit greyscale codec is available? Thanks!

IC Capture supports only color formats for uncompressed codecs, no Y8 format.
You may use the old Microsft RLE codec. It does some compression, but it is lossless. For a description of its algorithm see here:

If you would program on your own, you could pass "MEDIASUBTYPE_RGB8" instead of a codec name to the AVISink. The "MEDIASUBTYPE_RGB8" is declared in the "strmiids.lib"
