Best video format

Hi everybody.

I need to know which is the best video format for capture a compressed video with Xvid Codec and using a domestic Firewire DV video cam.

Like a sony tvr22e

RGB24, YUV, ......

I need to reduce my CPU load and increase the final video file quality, now i use RGB24 720x576.

maybe can i use other codec???

Hello Alberto.

the YUV formats need less memory than the RGB 24 format. Therefore the CPU has less memory to convert. This is the only tip i can give you.

but what about the Quality ??? YUV has the same final results ?? using Xvid codec.

Yes. Most cameras procude YUV formats, that are transformed by the driver to RGB
