View Full Version : LabVIEW and movies

I would like to be able to do some processing on movies. Essentially the processing should not be too difficult to do apart from the fact thtat it needs to be done to a movie image.

Essentially I need to take a movie (of a standard format say mpeg, avi, mov) and somehow get at each frame individually do some processing and then put back into a movie format. I realise that it would probably be easier to do my processing "on the fly" before compression but that may not be a possibility.

Is it possible for me to do what I am trying within LabVIEW? In simple terms;

Take movie (say mpeg)
Decompress to get individual frames.
Process each frame.
Put back into movie (say mpeg again).

Are there any VI's or dll's that may be of use for this task? Has anyone any comments.

If this is the wrong forum for this question I apologise and could anyone suggest a relevant forum.

Hello Kev,

In fact, this is the wrong forum, because we create the AVI files with IC Imaging Control. A subsequent processing of the AVI file must be done with other tools.
