mv OpticalFlow Direction

Hi,
I'm experimenting with the OpticalFlow example. I've connected an Integer IO Renderer to Direction mvopticalFlow out pin and started the sample workbench file.

I'm not able to configure the filter to correctly detect the global 'flying' logo movements.

i've tryed different settings, but none seems to produce the right result (usually it output a 3 direction, even when the logo bounces around).

Any suggestion?

Hi,

You are right, the optical flow algorithm does not work very well on the flying MV logo and other artificial scenes. Please try it in combination with a hardware.

Example setup: 640x480 Video, Block & Shift Size 16x16 and Max Range 32x32.

Another way to get the direction of something moving in the video is to use the MV Blob Finder and its object position output. Additionally MV Object Tracker can be used to draw the track.

The next version of our development kit will contain a new filter called MV Motion Direction for better motion direction detection.
