Hi there,

I need your help on a tricky problem: With a "DFK 21F04" I am writing an *.avi file on my hard disk. Everything works fine even with very large files (> 10GB). During this long time recording the user should be able to press a button if an error occurs. This button is an event and I am storing the time when this event has occurred (in the format hh:mm:ss). After the recording has stopped, I want to extract parts of the *.avi file at the time where the events took place. Of course not only one frame but e.g. 2 minutes before and after.

I am working under LabVIEW but I am able to include OCXs. And that is my question! Does anybody of you know/have a free OCX which will be able to perform these operations on the *.avi file?

Any help and tips would be appreciated!

Thanks, Henning

Henning,
You may want to look at http://www.viscomsoft.com for a product they call videoedit activeX control. It will allow you to edit an avi file programmatically.

Hi Chris,

thanks for your answer, however this tool is no freeware...
But I will try the evaluation version to see if it fits my needs.

Henning,
Its not freeware, but, you'll be hard pressed to find a free version of an avi editor that can be embedded in your own program. There are other cheaper options out there, check out http://www.gromada.com for thier MCL library. Of course this is a C library that will require you to setup and compile a C DLL to do what you want to do. It is cheaper though at 129 for a single seat.
